Premiere Awards Hamby Scholarship to Trio of Students

Three outstanding Hereford-area students were selected to receive the Mary Hamby Memorial Scholarship presented by Premiere Cinema Corp. for 2009. The students are Jesse Maldano, Jeffrey Marques and April Beasley. The awards were announced by cinema Director Dane Cash this week.

"All three students have demonstrated excellent leadership and academic skills," said Mr. Cash in announcing Premiere's 2009 scholarships. "They've all been outstanding crew members of Moovies Six and I am proud all of them were chosen for this honor."

Jesse Maldano is majoring in pre-dental at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. Jeffrey Marques is a Mass Communications major at West Texas A&M. April Beasley is majoring in Biology at Amarillo College.

The scholarship was established by Premiere Cinema Corp. in honor of long-time senior Director, Mary Hamby of Hereford, Texas. CEO Gary Moore called Ms. Hamby "a dear friend and great inspiration to hundreds of young adults who worked at Moovies Six over the years. Premiere's scholarship allows her memory to keep enabling a new generation of students each year as she did when she was here every day."

The scholarship is awarded once annually to deserving students who work as cast and crew members at Hereford's Premiere Moovies Six cinema.
