Premiere Cinema Fashion Square Goes 100% Digital!

Wanting to catch a movie but not sure if you'll get to see it in digital or not? Premiere has gone digital at all 14 of its comfortable rocking-chair stadium-seating Fashion Square auditoriums, making Premiere Orlando's Only 100% All-the-time Digital Cinema! And customers couldn't be happier!

"We started out several years ago only installing a few digital projectors here in Orlando," said Premiere's local Director Tony Delgado. "So we were only partially digital back then and partially film, and what happened was our customers actually would call asking if a certain movie was in one of our digital auditoriums, and if it was, they'd drive all the way across town just to see it here in digital rather than seeing it in their neighborhood in film; the quality here was so much better in digital"

From those early tests, Premiere witnessed that there was a dramatic preference for digital over film and felt the best way to serve its guests was to offer what they wanted, a technically-advanced state-of-the-art atmosphere in which to see their movies. New silver screens were installed, sound systems were upgraded, and all the old film projectors were removed, replaced instead by sophisticated commercial digital technology powered by towering racks filled with massive terabyte servers which beamed movie content from one auditorium to another within the facility at the touch of a button. "It's like something out of Star Trek", says Mr. Delgado about the technology of digital cinema. "The movie beams to us via satellite and is stored on these huge storage computers and everything is run through sophisticated automation systems and constantly monitor the system's quality and functionality." The end result is a picture-perfect presentation every show day-in and day-out and because there's no film, that means no film breaks, scratches, missing segments, and no more threading projectors after every show.

For all its improved quality and customer-satisfaction, digital cinema also opens the door to a wide and increasingly popular variety of alternative content programming not available at traditional movie theatres. Premiere, through its association in the Cinedigm digital network, will run major live sporting events, concerts, comedy specials, video tournaments and other feeds year-around in addition to major motion pictures. Recently, the cinema played host to thousands of delegates who rented out Premiere's auditoriums to watch the Democratic National Convention live in digital. "Those people bought lots of popcorn!" said Mr. Delgado.

Still the best thing about digital according to Delgado, is the expression on people's faces when they come out having just seen a movie in digital or 3-D. "For some of our guests, it's the first time they've ever seen a movie in digital and they're astonished at how good it looks on the screen!" he said. "That makes me feel proud because the better we make their movie-going experience, the more movies they'll go see and that's what we're all about, entertaining and creating a quality environment."

"There's a lot of competition in Orlando for people's entertainment dollars and we know we have to give them exceptional quality and exceptional value every time they visit Premiere. We're 100% digital and 100% committed to their satisfaction."
