Cinedigm Signs Premiere Cinemas to Digital Cinema Deployment Plan
Premiere Cinema Corp. announced today it has signed to convert its theatres to digital with Cinedigm, the global leader in digital cinema solutions. The move allows Premiere an alliance for its new digital equipment acquisition and content management under Cinedigm's Phase 2 deployment plan which will roll-out up to 10,000 digital screens. Premiere's conversion to digital will initially comprise 171 screens in 13 locations across Texas, Florida and Alabama and installations will commence this month and continue through summer.
"We are pleased to welcome the Premiere circuit to the Cinedigm family," said Chairman and CEO Bud Mayo. "We share a vision to improve the movie going experience and to provide choices for Premiere's customers that only digital cinema allows."
"It's a major investment in improved quality and entertainment," said Joel Davis, Vice President of Operations for Premiere Cinemas. "But one we are making to make every movie-going experience at Premiere the best it can possibly be. Digital cinema is most pristine form of exhibition of a movie possible, with crystal clear images and audio, and allows us to show a much broader variety to the public such as advanced 3-D movies and live broadcasts like concerts, sporting events, concerts, live specials and teleconferences; it opens a whole new portal of entertainment options."
Chuck Goldwater, President of Cinedigm's Media Services Group added, "Premiere has certainly proven their dedication to continually enhancing the movie-going experience for their audiences. Their innovations in theatre design and operations are leading the way in the industry and this is one more giant step in that direction. Cinedigm is honored to have been chosen by Gary Moore and his entire team at Premiere to be their partners in the digital cinema world."
Premiere's individual theatre locations will announce their conversion dates to digital cinema as installations are completed.
